St. Patrick's Day celebrations across North Texas begin Saturday and run through Monday, with parades, pub crawls, live music and a few unconventional gatherings on the calendar.

In Dallas, the annual Dallas Mavs St. Patrick's Day Parade on Greenville Avenue is billed as the biggest nonsporting event in North Texas. An after-party follows along the lower stretches of the avenue as part of the Lower Greenville Block Party. Organizers and attendees are advised to take DART rather than drive.

Grapevine's British Emporium will hold its first St. Patrick's Day Car Show and Corgi Parade from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Costumed dogs will strut at 1 p.m. The event is free for spectators and participants, though organizers ask for a canned food donation for the local pantry GRACE Grapevine.

In Fort Worth, the group 101Media is running the St. Paddy's Bar Crawl in the Stockyards from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. A $15 ticket on Eventbrite covers photo ops, themed decor, live entertainment and drink specials. Three of the eight bars have been announced: Second Rodeo, the noon meet-up spot, plus Paloma Suerte and Sidesaddle Saloon. The remaining stops will be revealed in a digital brochure on the day.

Arlington has a crawl of its own. PubCrawls.com's Arlington St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl checks in at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hooligan's, then visits J. Gilligan's, On Tap, Old School Pizza Tavern and Division Brewing Pizza Kitchen. Tickets are $14.99 on Eventbrite and include food and drink specials at each venue, pub-crawl staff and a karaoke afterparty at J. Gilligan's.

Lewisville is combining St. Patrick's Day with Texas Independence Day at St. Paddy's Texas Style, held from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Ferguson Plaza. Admission and most activities are free, including carnival-style games, live entertainment and mini train rides. Food trucks, beer and face-painting are available for purchase. Entertainment starts at 1 p.m. with the McTeggart Irish Dancers, followed by live music from acts including The Blaggards with J. Isaiah Evans & The Boss Tweed, Beyond the Pale, Dustin Perkins Band, Late to the Station, Pride in the Name of U2 and Reel Treble. Lucha libre wrestling will run throughout the day.

Arlington's Plaza Pub, one of North Texas' oldest bars, is marking its 70th anniversary over the weekend with two days of live music and a menu of potato-leek soup with corned beef, shepherd's pie, cabbage and soda bread. Gypsy plays Saturday night, with the time still to be announced, and Whiskey Dick performs at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16. There is no cover.

On Sunday, the Rusty Nickel in Fort Worth hosts a free Shamrockin' St. Patrick's Day Party starting at 3 p.m., with live music from Poo Live Crew at 5 p.m. Specials include $6 Deep Eddy Vodka, $6 Surfside Green Tea + Vodka, $5 Coors Light (green beer on draft) and $5 Jameson Irish Whiskey, and the Big Dawg's food truck will be on site. Also Sunday, Dallas' Three Links presents Punks & Painters, an art market and music showcase running 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Headliner ¿Everything is Temporary? goes on at midnight, after sets from A Dangerous Affair, Justin Cashion, Spike Polite, Stailmate and Wayside Motel. Vendors on the back patio will sell art, food and Delta 8, and tickets are $12 on TicketWeb.

On Monday, St. Patrick's Day itself, J. Gilligan's in Arlington hosts its free block party for the 46th year. It starts at 11 a.m., rain or shine, with green beer, Irish nachos, DJs and live music indoors and out.
