Oklahoma City police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who opened fire into a crowd in the Bricktown entertainment district on August 18, wounding four people.

On Monday, investigators released surveillance images showing the suspect, the car he used to flee and the woman who was behind the wheel. Police want to identify both the shooter and the driver, whom they describe as an alleged accomplice.

"We're looking for the piece of information that will break the case for us," said MSgt Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department. Knight said investigators hope the photos, which captured the suspect just before he escaped, will generate that lead.

The vehicle was a silver sedan, and Knight said police got a good look at it in the images. "We know the car that's involved from the photo, a good look at it," he said.

According to investigators, a fight broke out shortly before 2 a.m. when the suspect pulled a pistol and began shooting. Two men and two women were hit. All four are expected to recover.

"Obviously with that many people there, that could have turned into a very tragic situation," Knight said.

Two officers who were in the area chased the suspect on foot, and both fired their weapons during the pursuit. The suspect still managed to get away. The two officers remain on routine administrative leave.

Police believe many people in the crowd recorded the incident on their phones. "We believe that lots of people have cell phone video of it and we would sure like to see that," Knight said.

He added that witnesses sometimes hold back useful information. "Often times somebody has that information, but they either don't think it's important or choose for whatever reason not to call but we want to hear from anybody with information anybody with evidence such as video footage or photos," Knight said.

Anyone with video, photos or other information about the shooting can contact Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300 or visit www.okccrimetips.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
